In 2007 and 2008 Suzuki started riding their Hydrogen fuel-cell powered Crosscage motorcycle into car and bike enthusiasts shows all over the globe. It caught loads of attention from fans and bloggers alike. But is the world ready for a hydrogen powered motorbike?

Intelligent Energy, a UK based firm, has been working with Suzuki in order to prefect this futuristic mode of powering your bike. But there are still few places on the planet where you can ride up and refuel any vehicle with hydrogen. Intelligent Energy’s CEO was quoted at the start of this project saying, “Our fuel cells are efficient, robust, and emit zero carbon at the tailpipe,” which is true, and that instrument panel gives us chills just from the photos. But when you’re on a motorcycle a clean, quiet environments is the last thing on your mind.

The bike was seen being tested last year by Suzuki specialists, so we can assume the bike will be street legal sometime this year. We can also assume a price tag much higher than any gas guzzling motorbike on the road to date. Maybe one day hydrogen will power all of our modes of transit – but for now bikes like the Hydrogen fuel cell powered Crosscage from Suzuki will be a luxury only the wealthy or hardcore riders will be able to afford.
